Congratulations, you are getting married! Now you have the challenge of planning the wedding. There are so many things to do, book a venue, food selection, guest list, wedding dress, etc .. You have so many things to do that you might not spend sufficient time on one of the most important things, the entertainment.
I heard a wedding planner on the Oprah Winfrey show give sage advice to couples. She told them to spend their discretionary wedding money on the things that will result in the guests remembering their wedding. She explained that the obvious choices were DJs and bands, but when pressed she suggested something totally different, a magician. Ok, you might conclude that I am biased because I am a magician. I am, because I have seen first-hand the fun and energy a magician can bring to a wedding! Numerous surveys reveal that entertainment consistently comes up as the top five things that couples wish they had spent more money on for their wedding. Couples realize that guests remember how they felt at a wedding. If the band was awesome and everyone was up dancing they will remember that. I couldn’t find one survey where couples felt that they shouldn’t have spent as much money on entertainment. A magician can make your wedding more memorable by making it magical. There are several opportunities for a magician to make your wedding more magical. During the cocktail hour a magician can help to break the ice and bring the different sides, bride and groom, of the wedding together for a shared experience. A magician can tactically work a room to target guests who may not be as engaged as other guests. Another option is to hire a magician for the rehearsal dinner or even strolling magic during the wedding reception. Finally, some form of a magic show can work during the reception as well. I have a trick that I do that is a metaphor for two people becoming one. It is very powerful and the newlyweds are left with a keepsake for the rest of their lives.
